- It is your duty as an optometrist to keep your patients’ eye, vision, and general health your priority.

- Advise your patients whenever consultation with, or referral to, another optometrist or other healthcare professional is appropriate.
- Ensure the confidentiality and privacy of patients’ health and other personal information.
- Strive to ensure that all people have access to eye and vision care.
- Advance your professional knowledge and skills.
- Maintain your practice under professional health care standards.
- Promote ethical and cordial relationships with all members of the health care community.
- Uphold the dignity, honour, and integrity of the optometric profession.
- Should not hold themselves as having superior knowledge or credentials other than their earned degrees, certifications, or license types.
